How to fix red skin with Photoshop in less than a minute.
Take a look at the photo I downloaded from the web. Using this photo, I will remove the redness using Photoshop, in less than a minute.
Open the photo in Photoshop and using the marquee tool (from the toolbar top left), select part of the face that has the red cheeks.
Navigate to the bottom right of the Photoshop pane and click on the “create new fill or adjustment layer”. Click on “selective color”. Once you have done that, you will see a new adjustment layer has been created above the photo layer. If you look at the top right pane, you will see four sliders. We are only gong to focus on the magenta and yellow sliders.
Move the Magenta slider to the left. Keeping an eye on the selected part of the red cheek and you will notice the redness is being removed. A side effect of using the magenta slider is it could tone the image yellow. To fix this, move the yellow slider to the left as well. Until you have fixed the red skin without adding a yellow tone. Below are the setting I used to fix the red skin.
The final tweaks needed to fix red skin
Once you are happy with the fix, you need to clear the mask selection, as it was only a rough selection. Do this by selecting the mask, on a Mac click cmd and delete, on a PC it is ctrl and delete.
Lastly select the brush tool, with an opacity of around 50% and the hardness at 0% (soft). Brush over the redness in the cheeks till you are happy with the results.
